Conservative Leaders in Norwich have welcomed the decision of the Department for Education to approve a new Free School for the City, due to open in September.
Conservative Leader at City Hall, Councillor Andrew Wiltshire said:
"Free Schools, especially those set up by teachers groups such as this one in Norwich, will have the freedom to innovate outside of LEA control. Where there is a need for a new school, as there is in this case, we welcome any attempt to raise standards and provide the best chance for children in the City. I would like to congratulate everybody involved in the Free School Norwich Group and wish them every success for their new venture in September. The fact that this is just one of eight schools given the green light in the whole country once again shows that Norwich is leading the way in education."
