The Spring Statement from Chancellor of the Exchequer the Rt. Hon. Phillip Hammond has announced funding of £6.1 million for Norwich in the Transforming Cities Fund.
We are grateful to our MP Chloe Smith for securing this funding for our city. Chloe was worked tirelessly for increased transport links for Norwich, and through this funding Norwich will see both bus and road improvements. These improvements will help people into employment and provide a boost for the local economy, making a real difference to local people's lives.
The Spring Statement also announced a further £8 million for full fibre networks across Norfolk. The rollout of fibre broadband across Norfolk will help both individuals and businesses, and provide a further boost to our local economy, 'enabling next-generation full fibre connections to key public buildings, and nearby homes and businesses'.
Nationally, the Spring Statement also announced that the Conservative government had cut the deficit by 4/5ths since 2010, had shown the strongest wage growth for a decade, and that we have 3.5 million more people in work from 2010.
Only a Conservative government consistently delivers for working people.
