Your Conservative District Councillors vow to fight on against the shocking decision by the Planning Inspectorate to overturn Broadland District Council and huge local opposition to housing on the Thorpe Woods.
The Planning Inspectorate has granted planning permission for 300 houses on Racecourse Plantation. However, our lobbying and that of the Friends of Thorpe Woods, has ensured that Belmore and Brown’s Plantations cannot be built on.
Your local Conservatives have been fighting against development on these woods since 1992. Time again we have fought against plans and won. Broadland District Council Thorpe Town Council and the County Council all strongly opposed planning permission.
Councillor John Fisher said “I attended every day of the planning appeal and I am shocked by the result. We have fought against development on these woods since 1992 and we will continue that fight. It is unlikely that 300 houses will be enough to pay for this development. We are studying the decision carefully and will oppose any changes. Belmore and Brown’s Plantations have been saved and Cllr Nigel Shaw, Cllr Ian Mackie and I vow to keep it that way.”
