Chloe Smith's 6 Point Plan for Norwich North:
I have set out my priorities for our community for this Parliament. These include delivering more good jobs for Norwich; ensuring we have the transport Norwich needs; seeing more investment in NHS services; delivering the homes Norwich families need and ensuring the best opportunities for our children. As your Member of Parliament, I work hard all year round to champion the needs of the people of Norwich and make our community an even better place to live and work. I am proud to represent everyone in Norwich North, regardless of party politics, so please do get in touch if you have any issues or questions you would like to raise.
More Good Jobs for Norwich - Employment is up, the economy is strong and balanced and by this year Conservatives have already delivered a £2,000 pay rise for workers in Norwich on the National Living Wage. I've always worked in Parliament and locally to back jobs, and will support the best Brexit deal for Britain and Norwich.
Protect The Environment - One of my six priorities for Norwich North is protecting our environment. In Norfolk, we are lucky enough to live within easy reach of beautiful beaches, countryside and local woods. Ensuring these places, which contribute to our county’s character, are still there and are thriving for future generations is something I care deeply about. I am supporting the Government’s 25-year plan, which seeks to improve the environment, so we can be the first generation to leave the environment in a better state than when we inherited it.
The NHS Investment We Need - This year, Conservatives have delivered extra funding to the NHS in Norwich including A&E, mental health services and medical training. I really value our NHS just like everyone else, so I want the best for all of us from our local services. That’s why in Parliament I'm supporting the long-term deal which will give our NHS enough money for the future.
The Best for Norwich Children - Young people locally have told me they want jobs, opportunities and a say in our city. So I'm continuing to help young people get into work. Having grown up in our area, I want the best for Norwich children and am leading a big project to do just that. And schools are improving, with hundreds more children in Norwich going to a good or outstanding school.
The Homes Norwich Families Need - Conservatives are helping hundreds of local families get homes. I'm supporting action in Parliament to build more homes nationwide, and around Norwich. In Norwich I'm working to make sure that new homes also have the local things they need, like doctors’ surgeries and schools.
The Transport Norwich Needs - This year, Conservatives have delivered the new Northern Distributor Road around our city and I support extending it to the west. I will continue working to deliver better rail services which brings more jobs to our city. Our city will get new trains, because passengers have told me our transport wasn’t good enough.
